Between Yellowstone and Makoshika there was Beartooth Highway, which was on the way to Tippet Rise (next post. I hope). Both of these are in Montana, primo Big Sky country.
Beartooth Hwy is just outside Yellowstone as you go east. It’s one of the great US scenic highways, but which I’d never heard of until I googled “what’s the best way to get from West Yellowstone (town where the western entrance to the park is) to Fishtail,
MT (where Tippet Rise is)?” Beartooth Hwy. Boom.
Which happens to be in the Shoshone National Forest.
